Dr. JimJames Almaraz, OD

Dr. Almaraz is an Optometrist in Big Bear Lake providing complete eye care services for the Big Bear Valley.

As a licensed optometrist, Dr. Almaraz provides exams, diagnoses, and treatments of all disorders that affect the eye or vision. In addition to training in eye diseases and disorders, Dr. Almaraz is also trained in anatomy, biochemistry, and physiology. With this background, Dr. Almaraz is trained to recognize a range of health issues; such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, and hypertension.

Dr. Almaraz is a graduate of the Southern California College of Optometry and works hard to stay current on the latest advances in eye health and vision care and regularly attends continuing education seminars and advanced training courses. Along with his friendly, well trained staff, he is proud to say he has built the most successful optometry practice in Big Bear’s history.

Dr. Almaraz is married and has two children living in San Diego.  He enjoys golf, reading, woodworking, wine tasting, cooking and cycling.  He is currently an Advisory Board Member to the NVision Laser Eye Center and the secretary of Big Bear Cycling.  Wave if you see him riding around the Valley!

Update: We are happy to introduce Katrina to our office.  A long time Big Bear resident, she will be taking over the Doctor’s Assistant duties.  Welcome Aboard!
